Project Goodbye

My grandma died this week. It's been two weeks of sitting at her bedside while she slowly slips away. I would gladly do it over again as it was a true life lesson for both myself and my kids.

The irony of her holding on for 14 days without food or water is she left us just in time to return to ashes as a true symbol of Purple that represents this season.

My memories of my grandmother is a long list but I do know she would hate a blog Her true legacy is a salad she "named" at her club. It's delicious and it's a favorite of mine!

Project Funeral

Even at 90+ she's on the floor with the babies
The last week has been consumed with my time spent watching my grandmother die. I know that sounds terrible to some but she is 94 and has had a very full life. She is in a senior home where they provide her full care, along with 4 other women. They are fabulous people but she is old and has alzhimers and is not eating or drinking. Her children have made the decisions on how she will pass and what will and won't be done. So i'm fine with that.

I've learned a lot about death in the last two weeks. I've also learned that regardless of how bad she might be their spirit can hang on for a long ass time! She is clearly not ready to go but at the same time we know that is where we are headed. So the planning must being. Of course we have two kids so that means we've gotta have something to wear.....petty maybe, but my grandma would appreciate it. Thus we've found clothes for the kids. Something my grandmother would love seeing them in.

The one thing that keeps running through my head lately is "get busy living or get busy dying" so true. Neither is easy and both require different kinds of work!

Project Hair

So I've always wanted to donate my hair. I mean I get questions and compliments about the color all of the time. So my thought, who wouldn't be happy to wear my hair if they didn't have their own. So I started growing it out!

It's February and I'm getting a haircut, my last haircut was before Halloween so it's been a while. Thing is I don't know that it's long enough yet for me to donate. I'll talk to Amy about it today and make sure the next time I'm in we can cut to donate!

The irony of it all, the women I now work for is going through chemo and has lost all her hair! Her wig is great and I hope I can be part of providing someone somewhere the comfort of a beautiful wig during the very difficult time of their life!
